The best part about writing super-sexy romance about forbidden desires is that it’s all fantasy, it’s all make believe.  You can indulge yourself, go to the edge of your imagination and peek over the edge a bit.

This is why the very words ‘forbidden desires’ has become such a touchstone for me.  In fact, I tried making a concrete list of my actual forbidden desires way back in August.  Here it is:

  • Monster sex — a la Lucy on the gravestone slab in Coppola’s Dracula
  • Sex with a Cross Dresser  (for more about that see last week’s post HERE)
  • Being a Good Girl Gone Slutty for Halloween, but then it gets really out of control with a guy in his own gladiator costume or whatever
  • Zombie Sex — to me somehow this signifies super sloppy wet sex
  • Witchy f/f sex — This is starting to seem a bit like a Halloween list, isn’t it? I know, I know but I LOVE Halloween
  • Spanking Stuff
  • BDSM Switch stuff
  • Rough Sex – the lighter side of it, with hair pulling, being held down, ripping clothes off, etc
  • Sexual Healing – like Bo and Dyson in Lost Girl
  • Punk sex – All dirty and gritty in some nasty alley way with a punk guy who goes commando, no protection, etc.
  • Bad Romance Sex — what does this even mean??? No idea. Love the song and the video though.
  • Sugar Kink – blindfold, binding, foodplay, talking dirty
  • Having sex with a ‘Daddy’ figure
  • Having sex with a younger man
  • Having sex in a Horror Movie scenario where the guy I hook up with might actually be the villain  (I’ll admit Skeet Ulrich in Scream inspired this fantasy)

Not very interesting is it? (I think Alexa Day’s list would be much more fascinating.)

To me it’s not really the idea of any one sex act that gets me into a state of excitement.  The idea of pushing things to the limit–and then just a bit more–now that *really* turns me on. It doesn’t matter what the limit is. If it has the tingle of a forbidden dream to it you’ve hit the sweet spot.

The best thing about our new anthology is that I love the other stories in it as much, if not more, than I like my own.

I have always loved Liz Everly’s idea for her story about a Vampire who comes through the computer screen.  That tingly dream feeling is definitely in this story.

Who is that masked man?

Who is that masked man?

You would not believe the delicious world CMK has created at the end of her story.  Four words: sexy, masked, goblin men.  This is me whining: Can’t we find some way to make her write more stories set in this world? I could live in it *forever*.

I got to brainstorm with Elizabeth Shore a bit when she was creating her story.  The heroine faces a choice: one that could tip her towards artistic genius or ignite her into full blown madness.  Without claiming to be a genius, I know that feeling of coming up for air from an intense writing period where I feel frenzied, kinda maniacal, and not at all like myself.  What if that feeling just went on and on and on?

Meanwhile, my own story ‘Sexsomnia’ is all about the forbidden-dream-tingle feeling. I’ve posted before about how appealing I find the helplessness and limp vulnerability of a woman sleeping HERE.  But what I like is not only the vulnerability, but the lack of control over your desires.  In your dreams, your secret desires choose you, not the other way around. More than once I woken from a very naughty dream, feeling very guilty–but also feeling a delightful tizzy of sexual frisson.  It’s an edgy pleasure.

So writing “Sexsomnia” where Jenny finds those naughty dreams becoming reality was fun.  She’s ashamed and enjoying herself at the same time.  She suffers before it’s all over, but she also finds a whole new level of sexual satisfaction.

Joyous Release Day! And thank you for the kind words. I was just watching a man being chained to a ring on the floor; it’s a lovely way to wind up a challenging evening. 🙂
