To start, here’s a free excerpt from Elizabeth SaFleur‘s latest, The White House Gets A Spanking where a Femme Domme finds herself in the most famous house in the world and, perhaps, discovers the alpha submissive male she’s dreamed of for six, long years.

“Tell me Samson—I should call you that?” Stella placed her hand over his fingers that he drummed  on his leg.

“You can call me anything you want.”

“Samson then. What are you looking for?”

He blinked up at her. “Dominance.” He phrased it like a question as if she was either an idiot to ask such a thing or he wasn’t sure what that meant. She chose the latter.

“And what does this dominance look like? When you are in complete surrender in your mind, the thoughts you have late at night when you’re alone in bed playing with yourself . . .” she stilled his fingers once more. “Yes, Samson, when you are touching yourself, what is she doing?”

She didn’t need to ask him if he’d thought of her as he jacked off. She knew he did. He wouldn’t have come looking for her otherwise. And, his little gifts throughout the week were finally the right messages she’d sought.

“I haven’t. Touched myself.”

She cocked her head. “You’re telling the truth?”

“I always tell the truth.” His gaze shot to her.

“You forget I’ve been to your briefings.”

“I have never lied to the press.”

“Oh, the Assistant Press Secretary is ill? Or in bed with a certain someone?”

His nostrils flared. “Okay, I touched myself. But I didn’t—”

“You didn’t relieve yourself? Why not? Did Hannah forbid it until she got back?” If she had, that would have been another useful bit of information his former Domme should have shared.

His expression sank a little. “No, she didn’t forbid it.”

“But you wished to prove something to her anyway.”

“No.” He lifted his gaze to her, his eyes beseeching yet clear. “To you.”

Mixed emotion cascaded down her spine: pride, bewilderment, happiness and a little distrust. He still could be playing her. So many did in this town. But Hannah wouldn’t be with a player, despite the fact his job was in the biggest playpen. And, he had shown candor tonight. She’d give him the benefit of the doubt, but she wanted to know more.

He blinked. “You’re different.”

He tossed her a small smile. “I didn’t take you for someone who required flattery.”

“Don’t you dare.” She smiled back at him. “Tell me what you’re looking for. Details, Samson.”

His head swiveled immediately upon her words to see who might be around. Three men were walking by them. He angled himself so he leaned into her more.

“You’re among friends, Samson.”

“I want someone to belong to.”

Now they were getting somewhere.

“Belong,” she repeated, not because she didn’t understand, but because she did. The transience of their worlds—media, politics, Washington itself—wasn’t for someone who required constant reassurance. Comfort wasn’t on the menu. But if one’s nature was in direct contrast with who one had to be on the outside, well, having a place to be yourself could be very comforting indeed. Who didn’t long to be themselves, devoid of pretense, pseudonyms, false identities and the niceties everyone must adopt in D.C.?

“What do you want?” he asked.

“I’ll tell you. But, first, tell me more about this belonging.”

His eyes didn’t get that dreamy cast like so many other submissives when they paint their ideal fairytale. His eyes grew fierce.

“You would tell me what to do, of course. We are equals but you understand my need to serve you. You’d love . . . having me. It would be a shared experience.”

His unwavering clarity made her sit back against the couch cushions.

“I know watching is not the same as doing,” he said. “But what I’ve seen, well, I can tell the difference between people who are playing and people who are together and playing.”

The man used words for a living, so she shouldn’t be so surprised at his articulation. But the fact he expressed himself exactly as she would have? His answer rendered her nearly speechless.

It didn’t matter if Hannah had told her to watch over him. She wouldn’t turn her back on this man for anything. He wasn’t just rare. He was perhaps once in a lifetime.

“Is that what you want, to be part of a 24/7 couple?” she asked.

“Eventually. But first I have to know what it’s like. To be sure.”

“That’s wise. There is a vast difference between the fantasy and the reality of what we do.”

“I learned that quickly.” His eyes lit up. “It was better.”

Controlling the squirm that rose inside her, she leveled her voice. She was investigating, not seducing. “So you’re hungry for more?”

He nodded and clenched and unclenched his fists. He had something inside seeking release. She took his hand and he seemed to relax.

“You enjoy being handled.” The words just tumbled from her lips.

“Very much so.”

Every fiber of her being wanted to handle him. Her mind spun with all the possibilities about the apparatus she could connect him to while strapping open his ass cheeks and plugging him, playing with his cock, and making those delectable lips do all kinds of things to her. . . . She told her imagination to take five. There was more investigation to do. Her lady parts complained bitterly.

Stella took a long breath and squared her shoulders toward him. “I wish to see you again. Do you wish to see me again?”

“Yes, but . . .” He leaned forward. “. . . we’re here now.”

She smiled. She could so easily tell him to drop to his knees, crawl with her as she scoped out a quiet corner for them, test him out a little. Perhaps a short spanking scene or binding him with his own clothes and asking him to service her.

She loved to delay sating a man’s lust until he couldn’t take it anymore, and then let him unleash on her, give her pleasure while taking his own. She once thought she’d found such a man. But, no, her last submissive lover had to end things because his wife had found out—a spouse tucked away in Northern Virginia that she didn’t know he had. This time she would be wiser.

“Tonight, we just talk,” she said.

“Hannah has already told me it’s fine, but if you wish to speak to her—” He stopped abruptly likely due to her face coloring. He’d spoken to Hannah, and Hannah hadn’t bothered to call her back? Then again, Samson was under her charge at least some of the time. She would feel obligated to return his call.

“I’m glad she called you.” Sort of. “And, you asked her about me?” She parted her legs a bit more and let one thigh rest against his. Man, he had muscles.

“I said that we saw each other at work, and you were generous in offering to accompany me here.”

Generous? Hardly. Want for the man would make fulfilling Hannah’s request the easiest thing she’d done in years.

She stood and held out her hand. “Let’s take a little walk.”

Merry Christmas, baby

By Elizabeth Shore

Hey, All! Have you got your shopping done yet? Are you blissed out on spiked nog and peppermint bark? Are lights and candles twinkling in the windows? Even if NONE of these things are happening in your world, you still deserve a rest from the madness we collectively refer to as “the holiday season.” Hanging with friends and the fam can be fun (or not), but downtime for yourself means kicking back and reliving some of our fun posts from 2016. It’s “best of” week here at Lady Smut, so put your feet up, grab a cup of cheer, and get whisked away, Lady Smut style.

How to relax when the world’s gone mad? By watching porn, of course. A team of science geeks researchers say it’s good for you. So scientifically speaking, you owe it to yourself. Right? 😉

Now that you’re boning up (oh my!) on treating yourself right, why not extend that over to your partner and make sure he’s spanking you correctly (or you, him!). It’s the art of the spank, peeps, and this’ll teach you both how to do it oh-so-right.

So now that he’s got his spanking technique down, you’re putty in his hands, right? Doing whatever He wants – and loving it. You naughty, naughty girl, you.

Is the merry merry everywhere just a little too happy for you? Do you find yourself wanting to take a walk on the darker side? How about paying to get psychologically tortured? Anyone?

How to have an orgasm from being spanked

15 Jan

by Rachel Kramer Bussel

Spanking is one of my favorite things to read about, both because I enjoy getting and giving spankings, but even more, because how a person reacts to a spanking can tell us so much about them. The eyes may be the window to the soul, but for spankophiles, a spanking can be a window into equally powerful revelations.

Erotica authors can make spankings playful, painful, punishment, reward, ritual, initiation; the possibilities are endless. They can be purely physical, or they can tap something deep inside, bringing out raw emotion, longing, desire, unlocking secrets that can’t be unearthed in any other way. But there’s no one-size-fits-all spanking. What’s sexy to one person may be abhorrent to another. Some have very precise and specific ingredients that go into the perfect spanking; for others, it’s on a case-by-case basis. You can’t simply magically intuit what type of spanker or spankee someone will be without some clues to guide you.

If you stumbled across a spanking taking place, even if you watched closely, you might not know exactly which category it fell into; is it being enjoyed or endured? Is the spankee getting turned on or simply waiting it out until they get to whatever happens next? Is the spanking a sexual act, or something else? Writers have the power to get inside the heads of those on the receiving or giving end of those firm, hard smacks and let us find out what exactly makes this something characters crave (or cringe over)? When I am right there with a character who’s having the time of his or her life because of a spanking, I’m in reading heaven.

Best Women's Erotica of the Year, Volume 1

Best Women’s Erotica of the Year, Volume 1

It’s no surprise, then, that in my new anthology, Best Women’s Erotica of the Year, Volume 1, spanking makes a few appearances. One of the most intriguing to me is “Restitution” by Ria Restrepo, about a famous pop star, Ella Lopez, who’s caught shoplifting and is being interrogated by a police officer under the watchful eye of whoever’s observing and monitoring their every move through a two-way mirror, helping to negotiate what her punishment will be. She’s told that she’ll be let off the hook for the shoplifting if she takes 20 bare assed spankings from Officer Hernandez. Heart pounding, she agrees. Here’s part of what happens:

“I want you to sing for me, little diva. Call out the numbers.”

“Yes, sir,” I said, my voice raspy and unfamiliar.

He shifted away from me and I held my breath, awaiting the first blow. When it came, it was hard, punishing, brutal—everything I thought it would be. My body lurched forward, jostling the table enough to knock the water bottle onto the floor.

“One,” I cried out on a pent-up gust of air.

Then came the next smack on the opposite cheek, and I called that one out too. There was a mean sting on my skin when his large hand first made contact, followed by a deep ache in my flesh as it absorbed the full force of the strike. He spread the slaps around, alternating sides, occasionally landing near the juncture between my thighs—those were the best ones.

Each time, pain roared through my body, making my nipples throb and my cunt clench in sympathy. But it was a delicious torture that built with the burn until I was on fire. I could feel my juices sliding past my cunt lips and onto my thighs. I couldn’t believe it; I was going to come, just from him spanking me.

I asked Ria Restrepo to share a little behind the scenes insights into just how this story plays out, including what factors went into Ella being able to orgasm from being spanked. While this may not work for everyone (nor is that everyone’s goal), knowing what it took for Ella might set the stage for it happening for you.

Here’s what she told me: “Ella ultimately gets off from the combination of physical, emotional, and mental stimuli she experiences. She finds pleasure in pain, so the sensation of a firm hand smacking her tender flesh is highly arousing. But being dominated by a man she’s attracted to, knowing her spanking is being watched, and the taboo nature of a police officer abusing his authority in such a way all heighten Ella’s arousal. It’s often said that the brain is the greatest sexual organ and that’s definitely true in ‘Restitution.’ Ella is very aroused before Officer Hernandez ever lays a hand on her.” This buildup was another thing that made me want to publish her story. Ella’s body is primed, and the reader’s mind is also primed to be fully appreciate every aspect of her spanking—and what comes after it.

Something I especially think Lady Smut readers will appreciate is that Restrepo’s tagline for her BDSM erotica is “strong women who desire stronger men.” In other words, kink for her isn’t about submissies being truly degraded or seen as somehow lesser, but about owning up to—and sometimes asking for—the kind of treatment they want from a dominant. Sometimes what seems like “suffering” is actually delight; in Ella’s case, she’s being punished, but it’s clear that she is getting off, literally, on the harsh blows being delivered straight to her bottom, from a man who’s strong in more ways than one.

I asked her how her tagline plays out in “Restitution” and she said: “The best dominants aren’t intimidated by strong, independent women. They value a woman’s willing submission and work hard to earn her respect, admiration, and trust. Having a strong woman, who can stand on her own two feet, kneel before them in supplication is a cherished gift.”

She went on: “In ‘Restitution,’ Officer Hernandez may have authority over Ella by virtue of his position as the police officer who arrested her, but his dominant nature goes deeper than that. There is an ineffable quality truly dominant men possess—it’s in their demeanor, the way they stand, the way the walk, the glint in their eye. They exude confidence in their ability to understand what a submissive needs and give her exactly what she desires. Therein lies Officer Hernandez’s true power over Ella and makes him ‘stronger.’”

I love Restrepo’s concept of submission and that she makes sure to link women who submit with women who are independent. In this conception, dominant and submissive are yin and yang, each valuing what the other brings to the dance of BDSM. Her story would have been something else entirely if I felt like Ella was truly being manipulated into doing something she didn’t want to do, if the “punishment” only worked one way—to get the spanker off. Because it’s so clear, as you read in the passage above, that her body is singing with each strike of his hand, the power play works perfectly.

I also appreciated the detail Restrepo used in the short but powerful spankings scene. She didn’t belabor the story, but gave the reader just enough to perfectly capture exactly how Ella was being spanked, and where, and to let us know that the man delivering those blows knows precisely what he’s doing. While of course her story is pure fiction and not an actual instruction manual, I do believe that readers interested in pursuing spankings of their own could glean a thing or two about the art and joy of taking a spanking from Ella.

Want to find out what happens after that spanking? Read “Restitution” in Best Women’s Erotica of the Year, Volume 1, out now in print and ebook form. You can also hear me and other contributors read from the book this Tuesday, January 19 at 6:30 p.m., at Good Vibrations, 1620 Polk Street, San Francisco.

Here Comes the Bride…zilla

18 Feb

fetishI swear I didn’t mean to do it.  I didn’t have any idea who Kim Kardashian was when I picked her as a model for my heroine Becky Warfield while writing my first erotic romance novel, BE MY BRIDEZILLA.

I knew I wanted to try writing an erotic romance.  I did write one–and an editor at a major publishing company wanted it, but the publisher of her imprint said ‘maybe’, then ‘nah’.  I was sooooo close.

WHEN LIFE IS LIKE REALITY TV Casting around for another idea, I saw a Bridezillas commerical and inspiration struck.  The ad had a sexy bride in full satin gloves. She was throwing spaghetti in the face of a chef, screaming at him.  Someone needed to tame that Amazon bzilla!  Take her down a notch or two and get her off at the same time.  Thus BE MY BRIDEZILLA was born. It had all the elements I wanted in an erotic romance–witty dialogue, luxurious surroundings, a hot brooding hero who was smart and had it (almost) all together.  Also some kinky-lite sex in it, with a lot of smouldering intensity.

visionJACKIE CHAN Vs. BRUCE LEE Around the time I was casting about for an erotic romance idea, Nora Roberts had this bride quartet romance coming out.  I wanted to throw each book at the wall.  But I was in Barnes & Nobel and they don’t like it when patrons start lobbing projectiles across the Starbucks cafe.

My problem with each book is that they were all about the perfect wedding. People, I’ve been to weddings.  They are NOT perfect.  I’ve seen a lot of gritted teeth under those veils. I’ve seen brides who gave inn keepers PTSD,  I’ve been a guest–one of many–hiding from the bride on the other of the tent for an entire wedding.  So I wanted to write an anti-Nora novel.  I wanted it to be kinda funny, too.  Like Jackie Chan, who wanted to do the opposite of everything Bruce Lee did, where Nora got sad, I got funny.  Where Nora had pathos, I had a hawt wedding cake fight.

She does wear white a lot, doesn't she?

She does wear white a lot, doesn’t she?

But I usually use actors for physical inspiration. Who was I going to use as the model for my bridezilla?   For instance, John Krasinski is the model for Braden, the hero, and Ryan Kwanten is my inspiration for Spencer, the hapless groom. I saw a picture of someone in a magazine and thought to myself: she’s the one. But taller.  It turned out that the woman I was looking at was Kim Kardashian.

In my novel, Becky walks down the isle feeling more alone on her wedding day than she’s ever felt before.  The groom is gorgeous, he has an amazing old house, he lives in a beautiful area, and at bottom, he’s a truely sweet guy–so everything should be right in her world.  It’s not.  She knows it and tries to fight off her knowledge, which results in some spectacularly bad behavior.

Then Kimmy met Kris Humphries, and the rest was 72 days of history.  17 million dollars later, she’s reviled by the public.  She has another man’s bun in her oven. I feel ever-so-guilty that in some weird way, by picking her as the model for my Becky, I jinxed her.  Because let’s just say that in my novel (and in the sequel) Becky’s fate bears a striking similarity to Ms. Kardashian’s.

72 daysMISTAKES, I’VE MADE A FEW…Having done a lot of research for this book, I know that Kim is not alone.  30% of brides these days walk down the isle with strong doubts in their heads that the marriage will survive.  Like Becky, like Kim, they’re swept away.  The fairy tale fantasy wedding and meeting others expectations plays a big role in these mistakes.  “But he’s such an amazing guy, who am I not to love him?” plays another part in these mistakes.  The horror of disappointing everyone and the knowledge that second thoughts, cold feet, pre-wedding jitters are common–all this can fight against calling the wedding off.  The end result keeps lawyers in porches.

johnnyboyBecky ends her marriage before all the wedding cake is gone, and she instantly winds up with another guy—in this case a hot wedding guest, the groom’s cousin.  They run away to Paris together in a slightly drunken fit of rebellion against the whole family clan.  He comes to his senses first and tries to put the brakes on their rebound fling.  Becky, however, has finally found her inner compass.  She knows what she wants with all her being: him.  She decides to take her revenge by turning up the sizzling heat between them while she’s his “guest” in Paris.

SETTING THE BAR HIGH: So here’s where life and the curious workings of fate come together again.  I realized only after I finished my novel that there’s a gap between what actually happens in life (i.e. Kim’s path) and what readers wanna read.

ryanWhen I first imagined my hero, the idea was that he’d been to one too many Southern weddings and had seen one too many bridezillas.  That combined with a kinky interest in spanking had led him to some bridezilla-spanking fantasies.  When he sees Becky throwing platters of shrimp off a balcony, and sees her curvalicious bod, she becomes the focus of his fantasy.  BUT I soon realized that selling this bridezilla romance was going to be a tad difficult.  I guess it sounds like he’s got a bride-spanking fetish.  Hmmgnndhn…fetish is a strong word.

In my mind the hero was just sort of adapting to his conditions–staving off boredom, etc.  I didn’t exactly think of it as a fetish, exactly.  A really weird fetish.

There was also the problem of Becky being married.  I was too new to the biz when I wrote the novel to know that readers simply hate adultery in romance. Yet to me it was like: how do you write contemporary romance if you don’t have strong barriers in the way of their getting together? I work around the adultry issue, but in the end, I collected a few flattering, very nice rejections for my bridezilla book.

BridezillasI BREAK WITH THEE, I BREAK WITH THEE, I BREAK WITH THEE…By the time I went to pitch my work at a romance conference in New Jersey, I was on the cusp of giving up.  Maybe I could take the bridezilla stuff out? Maybe I could take out the kinky-lite sex? Maybe I could have the hero and heroine have an initial encounter and then have a One Year Later…?  I would be gutting the book, essentially. I was so apathetic about the project that I didn’t even pitch it.

LIFE IS SO MUCH STRANGER THAN FICTION…Imagine how I felt when I was sitting in the audience of an editor’s panel towards the end of the day and Treva Harte from Loose-Id started talking about their new submissions call: I DO…UNLESS I DON’T.

LooseIdThey were looking for wedding-gone-wrong scenarios.  They were looking for hot erotic sex, they were looking for a happily-ever-after, even if it wasn’t the original bride n groom pairing.  My jaw dropped.  A publisher was actually having a call for my book.  Broken wedding? Great.  Adultery? You bet. Bridezilla spanking fetish? Yay!

So I’ve sent BMB off to Loose Id.  I feel like I should drink some champagne.  Even if they don’t accept it. Even if they accept it and want me to change/fix a lot of it–because let’s face it people, while it has some great moments, it’s my first novel and it ain’t perfect–I’d be so thrilled, so honored, so gloriously, deliriously happy.

cakeLET THEM EAT CAKE Loose Id knows–like I know–that sometimes you just don’t know until you’re walking down the aisle this is all a big, big mistake.

Meanwhile, I’m trying to make up for the bad karma I sent Kimmy’s way by asking readers to cut her some slack.  Just watch an episode of GIRLS on HBO and you’ll see that the dating world out there is a total cringe fest.  Who wouldn’t want shelter from the storm?

Meanwhile, imagine you’ve spent 45,000 dollars on a car, or a college education–or a kidney transplant–and you can’t get a refund.  Do you really just give the car away? Throw the kidney in the trash? I’m not at all surprised that many women suck it up, even if deep inside it all feels wrong.  Let them eat cake for christ’s sake, it cost $3,000.00.

Spanking the Princess, Pt. 2

22 Aug

Welcome to Lady Smut.  I’m Madeline Iva, and starting in September, I’ll be blogging about all topics smart and sexy on Mondays and Thursdays.  ‘Spanking the Princess‘, btw, refers to female masturbation.

This is part two, you may have noticed.  Where is part one? It’s back on my web page blog.  You can find it here.

Part one was inspired by wondering what I would find trolling the Amazon cheap reads section if I tried looking for spanking romances a la Fifty Shades of Grey.

For Part Two, I’d like to explore the Taboo Wishes series, published by Resplendence Publishing (what a name, eh? I feel like a princess just saying it–or like a tinkle of fairy bells should chime when I say the name).

The first book in the Taboo Wishes series is called Punished by Brynn Paulin.  It came out a while ago, and was high on the Amazon charts — perhaps because it was .99 cents.  Perhaps because of the cover.

I liked the cover.  Usually, I’m drawn to covers that are soft and tastefully provocative.  I don’t really care for covers with bare bottoms full on–to me they may be arousing, but they look too much like porn.  This cover, however, is pretty explicit.  Yet it has a retro pulp fiction look to it that I really like.  Also the woman is shown with full agency–I mean, she looks like she’s a full partner in what’s going on.  They’re being naughty together–I like that.  The blurb also makes it clear that these folks are sophisticated adults, bravely trying out something when they are instantly drawn to each other.

This is really important to me.  While erotica sounds fine to me (the more campy the set-up the better) I find as a reader that nothing makes me drop a book faster than reading a scene about  two folks knocking boots who are utterly indifferent to each other.

So what I like about this entire series–and this book in particular–is that while each plot flirts with the forbidden fruit of taboo fantasies, the situations remain highly consensual, well written, and you know even from the sample that a deeper romantic interest is going to quickly emerge.

Punished starts in a club.  Sex club stuff is too ish for my finicky tastes.  Yet the club scene here is merely used as a set-up.  (I think.) Happily, in the beginning of the story, you’re not even seeing the club.  So much of the first scene is about the two protagonists that I get the feeling that the story isn’t going to remain in the club sphere much longer.

You can check out a sample of the book before you buy it.  If you do end up reading Punished, please tell us in the comments section below what you thought of it.
